Untitled Objects (2014)
Over the past three decades, the world in which we live has been transformed by the rise of the internet. From humble beginnings, the internet has grown to the point that its influence has moved offline into all aspects of modern life.
We now live in an all-out internet condition, in which the rate of change in technologies and their applications have begun to outpace our ability to understand what they mean for us as a culture.
Through the medium of 3D scanning, this body of work begins as a series of photographs which are re-structured into a computer generated model, and then returned to a two dimensional plane as a rendered image.
Through this process of digital mediation, various anomalies and artifacts appear, and the indexical trace and verisimilitude of the photographic object is brought into question.
This work aims not to raise alarm, but to quietly question the changing role of images, and the infinitely malleable modes of representation brought about by the digital.
